Dresden Mini

I have been working on this Dresden mini quilt for my secret partner in the STLMQG Room-by-Room swap. I was thrilled that I was able to pull all of the fabrics and supplies needed for this quilt from my growing pile of scraps. I even sacrificed almost half of my most prized Kate Spain Fandango print. It's seriously my favorite fabric in my stash (maybe my all-time favorite), and I only have a 6"x11" piece left after this project. I might just have to lock the rest away!

The background is Essex linen in neutral and the "frame" is a wood grain print that I picked up at JoAnn's.

A couple of weeks ago, I pinned this quilt on Pinterest, absolutely in love with the way the quilting made the Dresden look like a dahlia. I knew it would be perfect for this swap! It was super easy to do. I found a salad plate with a curve that I liked and used that as my template. I stippled the background for some added interest.

I am really pleased with the way it turned out. I really hope my partner likes it. I may decide that I need to make one for myself.

Making progress

I had an unexpected free afternoon today, so I used my time to finish up quilting my Angle quilt. My plan is to bind it tomorrow morning, and if the weather stays as nice as it is today, I'm planning a photo shoot tomorrow afternoon.

I spent much of my morning updating my Quilts tab, which includes links to my original posts. It's not quite complete, but it's getting there. I had fun looking through photos of my old quilts. It seems like such a long time ago that I made my first quilt. As simple as it was, I struggled making that first quilt. I cannot begin to say how thankful I am that I persevered and finished it.
Don't forget about my pattern Giveaway! You have until noon on Saturday, May 4 to enter and win!
