Elephants, geraniums and geese... oh, my!

I admit, I thought I'd have more time to get some sewing done once the kids got back in school, but it's just not happening with all the house stuff I've been working on. Here is a peek at a few of the things that I've been working on the past month and have actually finished. I apologize for my posting of Instagram photos... the darn phone is just so handy for photos!

A lot of my sewing time has revolved around the arrival of my new niece, Izzy. When I heard Izzy's daddy tell me that he was obsessed with elephants, I knew I finally had a good reason to buy Retro Mama's Tilly Elephant pattern! I love this elephant. It was super easy and I know a couple more little ones who would like to cuddle with one!

What else do baby girls need? Pretty dresses, of course! I have had my eye on Made by Rae's geranium dress for a while now.... you know how it ends! I didn't take a picture of the front of this dress, but I DID take one of the back... look at those buttons! Yeah, I'm pretty proud of them. I still can't believe that everything lines up! This dress was also relatively easy to make, even in it's super small size 0-3mo. I made a matching diaper cover to go with it... and although the diaper cover turned out just okay and it was usable, the (free) pattern I used did not make it easy. I can't remember which pattern I used, but I did get rid of it as soon as I was finished!

I also made two blocks for the last two months of the Redbird Bee. Carolyn chose the Lucky Stars block from Fresh Lemon's Summer Sampler Series. It came together very quickly and I can't wait to see her finished quilt.

Cindy came up with a really fun block using flying geese. It was fun to make and I love the way this block turned out. I have placed this quilt on my ever growing "to-do" list. I am super excited to see how Cindy puts all these blocks together

The past couple of weeks, I've been working on Sophie's neon hexagon quilt top and finishing up a few other quilts to list in my Etsy shop. I have also been playing around with some new quilt designs, and since I'm kind of a solids fanatic, you can expect another all-solids quilt soon! For those of you who are fans of my Outburst quilt, I might possibly be playing around with some more transparency designs *wink, wink*.... I hope to use some of the gorgeous new Kona colors... I guess that means I need to order my new color card soon!

  1. You've made some great progress and should definately be pleased with that dress. Lining up straight lines is one thing; but a chevron...WOW!

Can't wait to hear about the new solid project you have on the horizon.
